Children's centres aim to give all children the best possible start in life and enable parents to support their child and family. They act as a central point where families can access information and a range of services.

Free School Meals

Local authorities are able to grant free school meals to children whose parents/guardians receive Income Support, Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, or in some instances Child Tax Credit.

Dorset Adult Learning

Dorset Families Information Service - (FIS)

Information available on Ofsted registered childcare providers, activities to do with your child, clubs that your child can attend independently and services to support your child.  Understand the different types of childcare and find out what funding may be available to help you meet the cost of childcare.  They also offer information and advice on working in childcare.

Dorset Parent Partnership

The Dorset Parent Partnership Service offers independent information and support to parents and carers of children with special educational needs.  They work closely with the Local authority, schools the voluntary sector and other agencies.

Dorset Parent-Carer Council

The Dorset Parent-Carer Council aims to help improve the lives and opportunities for families and children and young people who are disabled in Dorset.  They are doing this by being a voice to inform all agencies and services about the needs of disabled children and their families in Dorset.

Dorset Parent Support Advisory Service (PSA)

The PSA service works alongside parents and carers, helping them to achieve better outcomes for their children and young people.  They cover all areas of Dorset and work directly with parents to provide support that can encourage their children to feel settled and secure, both at home and at school.  PSA's are based locally within school cluster areas.  Their advisors can support you in helping your child learn, offer parenting support information and work with you on issues such as attendance and behaviour.

Homestart West Dorset

A local charity which gives friendship, advice and practical support to families who live in the West Dorset District Council area.  They help parents, with a child under 5, discover, or rediscover, the joy and fun of parenting.  They are self funded and governed but work in partnership with Home-Start UK.

The leading national charity providing help and support to anyone caring for children – parents, grandparents, step-parents, relatives – for families living together as well as apart.

The new CAMHS website is an innovative website for children, teenagers, carers and professionals, focusing on emotional mental health and well being.
