Welcome to Jane Austen Class!

Welcome to Jane Austen Class! We are really looking forward to an exciting Autumn Term filled with new learning opportunities, challenges and memorable experiences. The children have already made a fantastic start and have quickly settled back into school life with enthusiasm and positivity.

This term, we have been getting stuck into our exciting Alien Landing sci-fi story, using our imaginations to create engaging pieces of writing. In maths, we have been exploring numbers up to 10,000,000 and developing our understanding of place value, while our first swimming lesson of the year was enjoyed by everyone and provided a great start to our PE learning.

Reading continues to be one of the most important ways children can support their learning at home. We encourage children to read regularly, both independently and with an adult, as this helps to build fluency, confidence and a love of books. Talking about stories, characters and new vocabulary is also a valuable way to develop understanding and foster a lifelong enjoyment of reading.

Throughout the term, children will bring home weekly spellings and vocabulary to practise, alongside homework activities linked to grammar, punctuation and maths. Regular practice of multiplication and division facts is also highly beneficial, helping children to become more confident and successful across all areas of mathematics.

We are looking forward to a fantastic term of learning, achievement and discovery, and we thank you for your continued support. Together, we can help every child thrive and reach their full potential.
